Job description:

Lead Frontend Engineer

About Quix

Our mission is to help developers use live data — faster and more efficiently — with a platform that enables them to build applications with data stream processing.

Streaming data is booming, with data pouring in from digital experiences and connected IoT devices. As a result, organisations are in a race to automatically process and respond to events at the moment data is created. But working with live data-in-flight remains difficult, time-consuming and costly.

Our developer-first platform enables teams to build, test, deploy and monitor live real-time stream processing pipelines. Built on modern technology, and using a unique client library, we support customers across any industry with a platform that integrates seamlessly into the application stack to deliver an experience that developers love.

Quix is adopted by developers across the video game, racing, manufacturing, automotive, healthcare, tech and telco industries. We’re building a category-defining platform to launch a new data-driven era. Join us and bring your passion!

Your role

We are looking for a lead frontend engineer to lead the development of user-facing product. You will bring energy and leadership experience to a highly motivated team, and focus most of your effort on writing quality code.

You will spend 85% of your time developing our web app including:

  • Infrastructure provisioning, orchestration and monitoring tools
  • Realtime and historic data visualization tools
  • Online data engineering tools
  • Code library marketplace
  • Admin tooling

You will spend 15% of your time leading the frontend team, including:

  • Managing the sprint planning meeting (bi-weekly)
  • Interfacing with design and product to advise on feasibility, effort and cost
  • Helping people around the business

You will not have to:

  • Deal with people management (holidays, sickness, HR admin etc)
  • Deal with any BS or bureaucracy

This is a high-impact role at a rapidly growing startup, so your ideas and point of view are essential to shaping the future of Quix, both technically and culturally. We thrive on moving fast, delivering and iterating, taking risks and testing hypotheses, and having each others’ backs, with enthusiasm and heart.

What we’re looking for

Technically you will be at the top of your game. You will love developing, and you will be the person everyone turns to for support. Socially, you will love new technologies, be full of energy and have a glass-half full attitude. Naturally active on Slack, you will love to laugh and enjoy having a good time at work.

  • Strong Angular2+ experience
  • Strong reactive programming experience (NgRx, RxJs, Observables, etc.)
  • Experience in test automation
  • Strong HTML/SCSS
  • Experience working in Bootstrap
  • Experience working with web sockets
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
  • Fluent in English (C1 – Upper advanced)

People describe you as full of energy and optimism (and you’ve probably got a nice competitive streak). Slack and video chats are second nature, and you’re always ready for a laugh and to celebrate wins with your colleagues.

You’ll be in the lead if…

Bonus points if you can tick off any of the following (especially the last bullet):

  • Experience working on projects using real-time streaming data
  • Experience working on data-centric products
  • Experience working in other javascript frameworks such as React, VueJs, etc.
  • Experience using D3 or data visualization libraries
  • A love of pets, memes, parties, travel and video games like CS, Warzone, Risk and AmongUs

We provide our people with everything they need to prepare, deliver and recover from the working week, including:

  • Work from anywhere in the UK or EU without missing a beat — we’re a remote-first company
  • Travel to attend QuixStarts with your colleagues — these intense, multi-day workshops help us kick-start epic projects
  • Team meet-ups in EU destinations (we just came back from a week at a villa in Mallorca)
  • 37 days holiday (inclusive of your regional public holidays)
  • 2 additional paid days off a year for volunteering work
  • Generous salary according to your experience, skills and location
  • Options to earn stock in the company
  • Budget to choose your own hardware and office setup
  • Budget for training and personal development
  • Regular team socials and game nights
  • Subscription to Juno, an employee wellness and rewards platform

Sounds like you?
